Important Information for Candidates

  • Only Online Applications will be considered, except for the O-DM course (S.No. 12) and C-SC course (S.No. 36).
  • Application Fee (Non-refundable) for Courses at S.No. 1 to 13: For Indian nationals – Rs. 1,000*; For Foreign nationals – USD 100
    • *Candidate applying for both P.G. Diploma in Geoinformatics (D-GI; Sl. No. 10) and M.Sc. in Geoinformatics (MS-GI; Sl. No. 11) will have to pay the Application Fee Rs. of 1500/- (USD 150 for foreign nationals).
  • Application Fee for Courses at S.No. 14-25: RS 500/- (Non-refundable)
  • Instructions for Appearing Candidates:
    • Candidates in the final semester/year of the qualifying degree can also apply for the P.G. Diploma and M.Sc. courses (mentioned above at S.No. 1 to 11) under the “Result Awaited” category. However, such candidates must submit the proof of marks/grades (cumulative marks/CGPA) till the pre-final semester/year at the time of submitting the online application, without which the application will be treated as incomplete and will be rejected.
    • Admission of such appearing candidates, if selected, will be provisional and they will have to submit the mark sheets/ certificates of final semester/year on the date of reporting as informed by IIRS. In case these documents are not available by that time (applicable for appearing candidates only), then the candidate must submit a Certificate in original from the Competent Authority of his/her Institute to IIRS on the date of reporting stating that: (i) he/she has appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining his/her qualifying degree; and (ii) he/she has obtained requisite marks [i.e. 55% or equivalent upto pre-final semester/year]. However, admission of such candidates will be provisional and they shall have to submit the mark sheets/certificates of final semester/year (proving the possession of minimum qualification as per the requirement of the course) within one month from the date of reporting. Non-fulfilment of this condition shall automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.
  • Instructions for Govt.-sponsored Candidates:
    • Government-sponsored candidate means only the Permanent Employee nominated by a Govt. organisation in India (Central or State Government Ministries/Departments or Autonomous Institutions and State or Central Govt.-funded Universities). Nominating organisations are required to meet all expenses viz., traveling allowance, daily allowance, contingent expenses, medical expenses, etc. for their candidates.
    • Courses at Sl. Nos. 12-25 are paid courses for all, including candidates nominated by the Government organisations.
    • Govt.-sponsored candidates must submit the Nomination Form from the Competent Authority of their parent organisation/institute at the time of submitting the online application. The template of the Nomination Form can be downloaded from https://admissions.iirs.gov.in.
    • Permanent Govt. sponsored candidates can submit application fee along with course fee after the selection list is published. If the duly approved nomination form is not available during application submission stage, the Government nominated candidates can submit their scanned Govt. ID card. However, they should submit nomination within one week after the selection list is published, failing which they will be considered as Self-Financed candidate.
    • In case of NNRMS-ISRO sponsored courses (Sl. No. 23 to 31), Regular/Permanent faculty members (teachers) of UGC/AICTE approved universities & their affiliated colleges nominated by Vice Chancellor/ Principal/ Registrar/ Dean; and Regular/Permanent Faculty/Scientists/Engineers/Officers nominated by the competent authority of the Central/State Govt. organisations/institutions will be considered as NNRMS/ISRO-sponsored candidates. Such candidates will be eligible for payment of TA (2nd AC train fare) and nominal living expenses by IIRS as per the provision available under this programme and as per rules. Further, such candidates must submit Nomination Form from the Competent Authority of their parent organisation/institute at the time of submitting the online application. The template of the Nomination Form can be downloaded from https://admissions.iirs.gov.in. All such candidates who have not submitted the Nomination Form from the Competent Authority of their parent organisation/institute or those who are not entitled for being considered as NNRMS/ISRO-sponsored candidates, will be treated as Self-Financed candidates. School Teachers and School Officials are not eligible to apply for this course.
  • Submission and Verification of Documents::
    • All documents submitted by the candidates at the time of submitting online application for admission in any of the courses shall be verified by IIRS with originals on the date of reporting. Further, all selected candidates have to submit one set of self-attested copies of documents on the date of reporting.
    • Candidate should ensure his/her eligibility and then apply for the relevant course(s). Incomplete application (including non-payment of application fee, wherever applicable) will be summarily rejected.
    • Course fee and other expenditure are likely to change as per IIRS and collaborating University’s/ Institute’s policy.
  • Payment of Fee:
    • Self-financed candidates, if selected in courses mentioned at Sl. No. 1 to 11 of this calendar, have to make an advance payment of 1st year fee (i.e. two semesters) of IIRS component on or before the last date given by the Institute (IIRS) for confirmation of seat, failing which seats will be offered to the wait-listed candidates. Remaining course fee (applicable for M.Sc. courses) will have to be paid before the start of 2nd year (or 3rd semester) as per the fee deposit rules of IIRS. ITC fee (applicable for candidates admitted under the IIRS-ITC JEP, i.e. Sl. No. 19 to 20) will have to be paid on or before the date specified by ITC. Refund of fee on account of withdrawal/ cancellation of admission shall be governed by the fee refund policy of IIRS (available on website).
    • For courses at Sl. No. 12-25 (both Government-sponsored & self-financed candidates), full fee has to be paid on or before the date specified by IIRS prior to the commencement of the course, for confirmation of seat, failing which seats will be offered to the wait-listed candidates.
    • Waitlisted candidates shall have to give confirmation within given deadline and if offered a seat, they will have to pay applicable fee within a short deadline (usually 2-3 days or as informed by IIRS), failing which the seat will be offered to the next candidate.
    • Refund of fee will be governed by the fee refund policy of IIRS (available on website). Last date given by IIRS to the candidate for payment of course fee for confirmation of seat shall be the “formally notified last date of admission” for refund of fee and other purposes.
    • No extension shall be given under any circumstances for payment of applicable fee.
  • Boarding and lodging charges in IIRS Hostel are extra. Local candidates will be considered for hostel accommodation, only if available.
  • Increase and decrease in number of seats and age/qualification relaxation for candidates nominated by the govt. organisations will be at the discretion of the institute. In the event of number of applications being large, institute may adopt short-listing criteria based on academic record, relevant experience, etc. Government-sponsored candidates will be given preference for admission.
  • If the date of course commencement falls on a holiday, course will start from next working day.
  • The medium of instructions in the courses is English.
  • Institute reserves the right to postpone or cancel any special course without sighting any reason.
